The Institute for Religious Freedom and Democracy is a three-day training program designed for undergraduate and graduate students from all public and private universities in Albania. It is open for participants from all study programs in, but not limited to, social sciences and humanities. The program will consist of lectures, discussions, student presentations, guest lectures and visits to religious communities and objects of cult.

The project is inspired by the Study of the U.S. Institute on Religious Pluralism in the United States. This is a pilot program that will be transformed into a summer or winter institute for participants from Albania and the region. The goal of this program is to provide the necessary historical and theoretical foundations for the study of religious freedom and democracy, discuss specifics of the situation in Albania, and engage students in exploring ways to enhance religious harmony in Albania.

The program will include topics related to philosophical and religious bases of the tolerance and religious freedom, the historical origins of religious freedom, the judicial and political responses to conflicts between freedom of religion and other human rights at both national and international levels, with dealing several examples in different parts of the world.

Featured speakers will include faculty and participants in the 2017 SUSI on Religious Pluralism: Prof. Ferdinand Gjana, Rector Beder University, Prof. Leonard Switler, Dialogue Institute at Temple University, Rebecca K Mays, Temple University, USA (via skype or DVC) as well as scholars from Albania and diplomatic representatives.

Instituti për Lirinë e Besimit dhe Demokracinë është një program trajnimi tri-ditor i dizajnuar për studentët universitar dhe pasuniversitar nga të gjitha universitetet publike dhe private në Shqipëri. Ky program është i hapur për pjesëmarrësit nga të gjitha programet e studimit në shkencat shoqërore dhe shkencat humane. Programi do të përbëhet nga leksione, diskutime, prezantime studentore, leksione nga ekspertë të huaj dhe vizita në komunitetet fetare dhe objektet e kultit.

Projekti është i frymëzuar nga Studimi i Institutit Amerikan mbi Pluralizmin Fetar në Shtetet e Bashkuara. Ky është një program pilot që do të transformohet në një institut veror apo dimëror për pjesëmarrësit nga Shqipëria dhe rajoni. Qëllimi i programit është të sigurojë bazat e nevojshme historike dhe teorike mbi studimin e lirisë fetare dhe të demokracisë, të diskutojë specifikat e situatës në Shqipëri dhe të angazhojë studentët në eksplorimin e mënyrave për të rritur harmoninë fetare në Shqipëri.

Programi do të përfshijë tema që lidhen me bazat religjoze dhe filozofike të tolerancës dhe lirisë së besimit, origjinën historike të lirisë së besimit, zgjidhjet gjyqësore dhe politike karshi konflikteve midis lirisë së besimit dhe të drejtave të tjera njerëzore në nivel kombëtar dhe ndërkombëtar, duke i trajtuar me shembuj konkret nga vende të ndryshme të botës.

Në program do të ligjërojnë përfaqësues nga bota akademike me experience ndërkombëtare, ekspertë të fushës, përfaqësuesit diplomatikë etj. Vecanërisht theksojmë pjesmarrjen në aktivitet të studjuesve të tillë si: Prof Leonard Switler, Instituti i Dialogut në Universitetin e Tempullit, Rebecca K Mays, Universiteti Temple, SHBA (nëpërmjet skype ose DVC) etj.
